Rev. Sir Henry John Gunning, 4th Baronet

Rev. Sir Henry John Gunning, 4th Baronet (17 December 1797 - 30 June 1885) was the son of Sir George Gunning, 2nd Baronet and his wife, Hon. Elizabeth Bridgeman, daughter of Henry Bridgeman, 1st Baron Bradford. Sir Henry inherited the title from his older brother, Sir Robert Gunning, 3rd Baronet on his death in 1862. Up to the point of his inheritance, Gunning was Rector of Wigan in Lancashire.<ref name="Burke's Peerage 1999"/>
Personal life
Gunning married first Mary Catherine Cartwright, daughter of William Ralph Cartwright and Hon. Emma Mary Maude, the daughter of Cornwallis Maude, 1st Viscount Hawarden, on 27 February 1827.<ref name"Burke's Peerage 2003"/> They had one son:<ref name"Burke's Peerage 2003"/>

His first wife, Hon. Emma Mary Maude died 11 March 1808 and on 23 October 1879 Gunning remarried to Frances Rose Spencer, daughter of the Rev. Hon. William Henry Spencer, son of Francis Spencer, 1st Baron Churchill.<ref name="Burke's Peerage 2003"/>
Gunning predeceased his second wife, dying on 30 June 1885.<ref name="Burke's Peerage 1999"/>
