Release of hostage Christina Meier

Christina Barbara Meier, a 5 month pregnant German aid worker for Ora international, was kidnapped while eating at a restaurant in Kabul on August 18, 2007, and appeared on a video the next day calling for the release of prisoners. Christina was freed on August 19, 2007 after Norwegian special forces of the Forsvarets Spesialkommando helped Afghan National Police in storming the kidnappers' hiding place in Kabul. Norwegian military forces was working with Afghan National Police as mentors and was involved directly in the operation.
