Rehman Azhar

Rehman Azhar served as an anchor, news producer and special correspondent at Dunya News Television and currently associated with aaj news. Rehman Azhar was born on 18 January 1981. He joined the network in 2010 and is based in Lahore head office. He has earlier worked with Express News, Express 24/7, Geo Television Network and ARY media group.
Family
Rehman Azhar belongs to a Rajput family from Faisalabad. He resides in Lahore now. His father Rana Muhamamd Azhar Khan is eminent Lawyer of Supreme Court. He is the youngest of the three brothers. His eldest brother is a federal government employee. The other one is working as a Doctor in US.
Education
Rehman Azhar holds a degree of Masters of Arts in English Literature from Government College University, Lahore. He did his LLB from The University of the Punjab. He has been an all rounder. He was awarded the Muhammad Idrees Medal for the best debater in Government College University, Lahore for the year 2004. He participated in the first ever Youth Convention in 2004. He also received Prof. G.D. Sondhi Medal for over all excellent performance in academics, debates and sports in 2002 from Government College University, Lahore. He received 5 rolls of honor from Government College University, Lahore in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. He also secured overall first position in B.A/ B.Sc in Government College University, Lahore in 2002.
He has won numerous competitions of debates. He is often invited to adjudicate Parliamentary debates in various universities and colleges. He was also President of Debating Society of Government College University, Lahore and General Secretary of English Literary Circle.
He was captain of Government College University’s lawn tennis.
Work
Rehman Azhar is serving as an Anchor and Reporter in ever growing Pakistani news media. He has worked with leading news channels of Pakistan. Ever since entering this profession, he has rapidly got involved with anchoring news bulletins, field reporting and doing special transmissions.
Anchor
He has been involved in handling many breaking news from the news centres of Express Television and Dunya Television. He has to his credit vital transmissions like Marriott Hotel blast, Lawyer’s movement, Musharraf’s resignation and Supreme Court’s landmark decision regarding NRO. Apart from doing prime time nightly news, he handled transmissions on special days interviewing people on occasions like Labor Day, 14 August and Eid day. He also played a pivotal role as part of the Express Television's team for coverage of American Elections 2008 and anchored the special marathon transmission.
Before joining Dunya Television, Rehman has worked in various capacities in media and broadcasting industry. Mainly he worked as a correspondent and anchor for Express News, Express 24/7 and Geo television. As a reporter he has been doing on the spot coverage for general events and sports in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. He started his work as a creative writer and script writer for documentaries, programs and promos for ARY media group.
Programme host
Rehman Azhar has been hosting programs at Dunya News Television as well. He has anchored for shows such as "Dunya Special", " Media View" and special transmission. He also played a pivotal role as part of the team for coverage of American Elections 2008 and anchored the special marathon transmission. He also hosted a special show talk show “Whitehouse Express” which became a hallmark of Express news’ coverage of American Elections 2008. Rehman also hosted program "Centre Stage" for a while.
Reporter
While working as a special correspondent for Dunya News, Express News, Express 24/7 and Geo TV his main assignments included reporting from difficult areas like Swat, historic long march, first ever elections of Gilgit-Baltistan, attack on Sri Lankan team in Lahore, riots over loadshedding in Faisalabad in 2009, Pakistan cricket team tour of India, South African cricket team tour of Pakistan and Elections of 2008 in Pakistan.
