The Red Lion Area Junior High School shooting was a school shooting that occurred on April 24, 2003, at Red Lion Area Junior High School, a middle school in Red Lion, Pennsylvania, United States. James Sheets, a 14-year-old student at the school, armed himself with two revolvers and one semi-automatic handgun. The shooting took place in the cafeteria where students congregated before the start of classes. Sheets removed a .44-caliber handgun from his backpack and shot principal Dr. Eugene Segro, then turned a .22-caliber handgun on himself and committed suicide. Police were not able to identify a motive for the shooting. The students were evacuated to the nearby high school. Segro was pronounced dead at York Hospital.
