Re:enactment

Re:Enactment is a four-piece Indie rock band from Brisbane, Australia. Since their inception in 2007, the group has established a reputation as "Brisbane's own experimental, new wave party band" , known for both their "bright, enchanting synth pop" and "cacophonous live onslaught" .
History
After experimenting with different band members over the course of recording demo Sick on a Widow, the group solidified the lineup of Jacob Hicks on guitar and vocals, James Grundy on bass and programming, Sam Mitchell on drums and former Regurgitator keyboardist Shane Rudken on synth. Their first proper release was the EP Kittens, an "overtly quirky listening experience" that combined "savvy pop sensibilities" with dance music and rock power .
Follow-up EP Regicide saw the band refine their craft, delivering a record that saw them compared to Joy Division and Happy Mondays . "That there’s little middle ground is indicative of band actively spurning pop conventions, and the EP is much better for it," stated Rave Magazine, continuing "Each song travels well enough to be worth the five-to-seven minute investment, without ever requiring too much faith on listener’s behalf" .
The group began drawing larger crowds around the East Coast of Australia after their Talent for Retail EP featuring the "punked up electro-dance anthem" Problematic got them airplay on Triple J . They built momentum until the release of debut album Sport, which arrived to glowing reviews that highlighted the group's "broad spectrum of styles" and well-respected production team of Burke Reid and Magoo . "It’s unlikely a Brisbane band will produce a single of greater perfection in 2011 than the shimmering, cerebral electro-boogie of Scraps," Time off magazine declared .
