Randal Bingley

Randal Bingley (23rd November 1937 - 11th August 2014) was an author, museum curator, archaeologist and local historian, with a special interest in Thurrock. His work was cited or mentioned in books, scholarly articles and on the UK National Archives web site.
Career
Bingley came to Thurrock from Surrey as Museum Assistant in 1966 after serving as a Junior Lecturer with the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He was appointed the Borough's first Curator in 1975 and was editor of Panorama, The journal of the Thurrock Local History Society for ten years. Bingley was a keen archaeologist and conducted an emergency excavation during the restoration of the Woolmarket at Horndon-on-the-Hill.
He was born, Randal Bingley Doyle but changed his name.
