Rakkasan Tea Company is a privately owned American tea company based in Dallas, Texas that imports premium tea from post-conflict countries as a way to help communities recover from war. The company offers pyramid tea bags and more than 40 premium loose-leaf teas from places like Vietnam, Laos, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Rwanda and Myanmar. The company was co-founded by two Army veterans who served together in the 101st Airborne Division. History The company was founded in 2017 in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas by Brandon Friedman and Terrence Kamauf, two friends who had served in combat together in Afghanistan and Iraq. Citing a desire to help communities recover from the trauma of war, they launched Rakkasan Tea as a way to help artisan farmers in post-conflict countries rather than typical tea exporters. |
