Rafael "Raf" Solomon (born 25 October 1978) is an entrepreneur, public speaker and business owner. Solomon is best known for reestablishing his great grandfathers business Mostyn Cycle Works (established 1917) under the new moniker Mostyn Custom Motorcycles in Brisbane, Australia. As an early pioneer in the Australian Motorcycle industry, early examples of his motorcycles are highly sought after to this day. In 2015 Mostyn Custom Motorcycles was nominated for Telstra's Business of the Year award. Mostyn Custom Motorcycles was reestablished in 2008, servicing the niche 'Cafe racer' and 'bobber' market across Australia. With a retail outlet and workshop as well as a strong online presence Mostyn has established itself as one of the leaders in the custom motorcycle industry in Australia. ' Personal life Solomon was born in Melbourne and at the age of 2 moved to Cairns with his father. Acknowledging that he came from a working-class background, he believes his work ethic was instilled in him from an early age by his father. At the age of 17, he moved to Toowoomba and studied at the University of Southern Queensland. Although being academically ungifted he bought his first house at the age of 19 and by the time he finished university he had acquired a reasonable residential portfolio. It was during this time Solomon started working on custom motorcycles out of his own workshop. Solomon honed his skills in metal fabrication and got his trade qualification in 2008. After meeting his wife in 2011, the couple moved to the Eastern suburbs of Brisbane where he opened up his first retail shop, warehouse and workshop. Solomon has 3 children. Mostyn Shortly after opening Mostyn Custom Motorcycles, Solomon met Young Entrepreneur of the Year Brad Smith at a speaking engagement and got talking about their mutual passion for motorcycles. Not long after Mostyn became a dealer for the Braaap brand. As well as building custom motorcycles for riding enthusiasts Mostyn has also become the main distributors for international parts brands such as Motogadget, Biltwell, POSH and Nitroheads.
