Rachel Lee Carter

Rachel Lee Carter (born c. 1975), professional model, beauty queen, Christian speaker, author and Bible teacher, was born in Raleigh, North Carolina to Margaret and the late Ben Adcock.
Carter was modeling professionally by age 14, taking the professional name Rachel Lee. Upon graduating Bunker Hill High School in Claremont, NC in 1993, she was under contract with NY modeling agency Margaret Models. Some of her early clients were Cover Girl, Teen Magazine, Clairol, and Nike. Eventually, she signed with the powerhouse agency Wilhelmina in NY, LA and in Miami. When she returned to NC after traveling to over thirty countries, she signed a mother agency agreement with Directions USA still keeping her international representation with other leading modeling agencies worldwide.
Before her career as a professional model, Carter (then Rachel Lee Adcock) won the title Miss North Carolina Teen USA and placed in the top six at the internationally televised 1992 Miss Teen USA pageant in Biloxi, Mississippi. She retired her pageant career with the 2009 win of Mrs. North Carolina United States. She finished in the top ten at the National Mrs. United States pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her platform was using her experience as a professional model to campaign for modesty in a “skin-is-in” society. She was one of very few at the state and national level for Mrs. United States to wear a one-piece swimsuit for competition.
A Deans Honor graduate of the Word of Life Bible Institute in Schroon Lake, NY in 1996, Carter co-founded Model Ministries, later named Modeling Christ. With this, she began to share her faith with other models, photographers, make-up artists, and clients. The ministry then opened doors for Carter to become a professional speaker and author.
Her crown and ministry afforded her the opportunity to minister to women and teenagers about the importance of dressing modestly in an immodest society. Her first book, Fashioned by Faith~An international model uncovers the truth about modesty and style, takes the reader deep into Carter’s modeling career while sharing the importance of modesty from a Biblical perspective.
As her speaking ministry grew, Rachel's topics expanded to reach wider audiences to include boys and men. Besides sharing the importance of modesty, she also speaks candidly and with passion on "Purity and sexual abstinence", "Identity in Christ", "Removing the mask" and "Embracing ones past." , During her modeling career, Rachel was faced with the challenge of embracing her own past which included a previous marriage to a man wanted by the F.B.I. She found that by embracing, rather than overcoming the life many find familiar to the movie "Sleeping with the Enemy,", she has been able to help others through painful tragedies.
Rachel and her husband, Daryl live in Conover, NC with their two sons.
