R2M is free software to un-install the Operating system like Windows and GNU/Linux. This is originally written by Bedarkar Rahul, Madhukar Banger, Raees shikh.
Overview
R2M name is initials of R2M developers. It was as result of Project by these developers at College of Engg. Pune (CoEP). This is very first Free Software to un-install the operating system. Before this application, there was no such
application which will un-install the Operating system.
History and Need of Application
It is developed in 2009-10. It is free software under GNU GPL v3 License.
Need for this application came from normal desktop users usage about the use of Operating system. Many home users, desktop user,
DTP users use operating system depending on the applications they want to use on. When there is need of the deleting one of the Operating system user may just delete the partition on which particular Operating system is installed. but this creates the problem
to the another Operating system. For example, When you have installed Windows Os and Linux Ubuntu OS. And if you want to delete Ubuntu Linux OS then just deleting partition on which Ubuntu is installed does not suffice. It creates the problem to Windows OS. It is because when you install Windows, MBR contains Windows boot loader. But when you install Ubuntu, MBR is replaced by Linux boot loader for example GRUB. It copies the entry in windows boot loader into it. When you delete partition /boot of Ubuntu it. Ubuntu GRUB is also gets deleted. Now there is no way of locating where is Windows OS, so you can not start your Windows.
So R2M takes care of such situations and makes users task of un-installing Operating system easy. You can safely un-install any operating system using this software.
