R. Shanea Williams (born July 22, 1980) is an American screenwriter and producer, best known for her award winning short film Contamination, which tells the story of an African-American woman named Jade who suffers from severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. OCD has made her a shut-in and her anxiety has increased so greatly that just to open her door she must wear a surgical mask and gloves for protection. Jade washes her hands constantly. She counts to six each time she does anything. Despite the concern of her aunt, Jade continues to deny help for her illness. Jade considers the possibility of a life beyond fear of contamination when she meets her past. The film stars Obie award winning actress Cherise Boothe, and Ami Brabson (of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit fame), who is the wife of actor Andre Braugher. Williams was raised in Petersburg, Virginia, and subsequently left Virginia for New York in 2006 to attended NYU, where she received her MFA in Dramatic Writing in 2008.
