Quadminton is a world reknowned sport, a variation of badminton. Created by four students of Caterham School, Quadminton is a multiplayer sport in which four players with racquets, playing in four different quadrants (each separated by nets), aim to defeat their opponents. Each player begins with 10 points, and loses points if the shuttlebox (badminton shuttlecock touches the floor in their quadrant. Rules These are the official rules of Quadminton, as administered by one of the creators of the game: Rules: 1. Each player starts with 10 points. 2. Each player can hit the shuttle from their quadrant into any other. 3. If the shuttle lands in any player's quadrant, without having travelled under the net to reach this position, that player loses 1 point. 4. If the shuttle crosses underneath the net, the person whose side it crossed underneath from loses a point. 5. When a player loses their last point, they sit on the ground in the middle of their quadrant and their quadrant becomes out of bounds. 6. Any player who hits the shuttle in a way that means that the person whose quadrant is out of bounds would lose a point, loses a point themselves instead. 7. Last player with any points is the winner. Variations The game varies, usually depending on number of players. The original game of quadminton (also known as regular quadminton) involves 4 players. In 'double quadminton', four teams of two players take part, with the same 'regular' rules still in place. The same premise is also seen in 'treble' quadminton (4 teams of 3 players), 'quadruple' quadminton (4 x 4 players) and so forth. 'Extreme', or 'multiball' quadminton involves numerous shuttleboxes. The same rules as regular quadminton normally apply, but players usually begin the game with more then 10 points. In another variation of quadminton known as 'Irish' quadminton, players begin with 50, or 100 points.
