Extreme pong

Extreme Pong is an intense game created by college students in Norman, Oklahoma. The game is a combination of ping pong. To play the game, two players hit a ball back and forth across a table, attempting to keep the ball off the floor. Body parts, walls, and other furniture is in play. Games are played to 21, and a player simply has to make his opponent miss the table to win a point.

General Scoring Rules

* Games are played to 21 points
* Players switch sides on the court once the leader reaches 11 points
* A player can win 7-0 or 11-1 by rule of mercy

Rules of Gameplay

* The game is to be played in a room with a couch on opposite walls. A table should be placed halfway in between the couches
* Ball must be hit off table with paddle
* A player can hit the ball with any body part. Each body part can hit the ball once, as long as the paddle hits the ball off the table
* The last person to successfully hit the ball off the table before it hits the ground receives a point
* If a player hits the ball off of the ceiling, the other player receives a point
* If a player hits the ball and it bounces twice on the table, the other player receives a point
* A player may not catch or stop the ball in any way
* If the ball hits any piece of furniture, including the game table, and remains in motion, a player can still return the ball to the game table with his paddle. An exception to the rule is if the ball rolls backwards down the couch
* If a person is watching from a chair and the ball hits the person, the ball is still in play. However, the person can not intentionally help either player
* A player cannot hit the ball twice with his paddle
* A player can play the ball off of the walls and any A/C units
* Players will alternate serves every five points. To determine who serves first, players will hit the ball four times for a P-I-N-G and then play until the end of the point
* When one player reaches 20 points, players will alternate serves until a winner is decided. Play will continue until a player wins by two points. The player who is initially down will have the first serve. If this player is still on his five-serve turn, he will continue until his turn ends

Serving Rules

* The ball must land between the edges of the couches
* The ball cannot land on the couch seat or higher. However, the ball can hit the arm of the couch higher than the seat and remain in play
* Both players must have their heels within 6 inches of the couch until the server hits the ball
* If a player swings at the ball and misses, it counts as a point for the other player
* If a player attempts to play a ball that would land out of the serving boundaries, the ball is in play
* A ball that misses the table is a point for the other player
* A ball that hits the edge of the table and returns to the server is a re-serve. Consecutive hits of the edge with a return to the server will result in a point for the receiver. However, if the ball hits the edge of the table and flies in the direction of the receiver, it will be in play
* A player who is returning the serve may not hit the ball with his non-paddle hand.
