Qais Al-Khonji

Qais Al-Khonji (born 1978) is an Omani entrepreneur who is board member for some of the largest companies in Oman. He is recognized as a leading entrepreneur in the Omani community, helping Omani citizens start their own businesses. He is also a member of the Al-Khonji family, one of the most prominent families in Oman recognized for both their business and political contributions to Oman.
Early life and education
Al-Khonji was born on August 19, 1978 in Muscat the Sultanate of Oman. He is a 4th generation family member of the Al-Khonji family, a family with a strong precense in the Omani business and political communities. His late father is Mahmood al-Khonji who is the grandson to Mahammed and Ahmad Al-Khonji, the founding members of the Al-Khonji group along with Ahmed Al-Khonji. He is also the grandson of Moosa AbdulRahman Hassan who founded the Moosa Abdulrahman Group, one of the oldest groups in the Sultanate of Oman.
Al-Khonji completed high school in Oman al Sahwa schools in 1996. He obtained an International Baccalaureate Degree from the United World College of the Atlantic in 1998 and a Bachelor Degree in Business Information Systems from De Montfort University in 2001.
Professional career
Al-Khonji currently sits on the board of directors for five different companies including Oman Fisheries, and the Oman National Engineering & Investment Company.

In 2009, Al-Khonji was appointed as a board member of the Al-Khonji Group, the family owned business that was started by his father. Al-Khonji Group is one of the leading companies in Oman, specializing in trading, electro mechanical products and services, specialized services, property rental and real estate, and investments.
Al-Khonji became a board member of Oman Fisheries in 1999. Oman Fisheries is the largest fishing company in the Sultanate of Oman.

Al-Khonji joined the Entrepreneurs' Organization (Oman Chapter) in Oman as a board member in 2009.
Al-Khonji is a member of the board at the Oman National Engineering & Investment Co (S.A.O.G.) which became official in 2009. Oman National Engineering is a publicly traded company on the Muscat Securities Market that generates and distributes electricity and operates wastewater treatment plants as well as HVAC for hospitals and dispensaries. During his time with ONEIC, the company was honored for their execution of a new government billing system.

In 2011, Al-Khonji became a member of the Gulf Cultural Academy (GCA). This appointment came from the Gulf International Relations Board of Trustees who is the parent company to GCA. The same year, he was appointed to the board for the Sharakah Fund for Development of Youth Projects.

One of Al-Khonji’s biggest accomplishments was when he became a committee member to the Chamber of Commerce SME Committee in 2012. The committee is set up to assist businesses expanded into the Oman region, which is said to currently have the biggest opportunities for small businesses.
Business ventures
Al-Khonji is the founder of Qais United Enterprises Trading, a marketing company based in Oman. The company focuses on brand value and client-supplier relationships.
Al-Khonji’s future ventures include the opening of a vocational institute. The company, called Genesis International LLC, is currently under formation.
