PVT Pro

Overview
PVT Pro is a Windows-based software application designed for modeling the phase behavior and properties of reservoir fluids. This application has been designed and implemented in MAPSA Co. and its first version was released in 2009. This software also provides a tool for asphaltene precipitation prediction. This package is an Equation of State (EOS) engineering tool which assists engineers to combine reliable fluid characterization procedures with computational algorithms to match fluid properties obtained during common experiments data. The regressed fluid parameters obtained by PVT Pro may be used to produce input data for reservoir, pipeline and production simulators (such as Schlumberger ECLIPSE).
This software can be used by reservoir, production and process engineers to characterize reservoir fluid systems through laboratory experiments, prediction of asphaltene deposition, surface separation facilities, and finally PVT matching which provides petroleum engineers with a better understanding of the reservoir fluid phase behavior and can be used as a basic feature in optimum designing of reservoir future development plans.
Main Software Features
Reservoir fluid characterization
Splitting and lumping of HC fractions
Simulation of laboratory analysis
EOS parameter regression
Asphaltene precipitation modeling (polymer-solution models and EOS (solid) model)
Exporting mixture data to simulators and other applications
Software Engineering Specifications
This software is programmed using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 with Object-oriented analysis and design under .NET Framework 3.5 technology and is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (both 32-bit and 64-bit versions). From software engineering point of view, the user-friendly wizard-base GUI of this software is its main advantage to its alternatives.
Alternatives
PVT Pro has a number of competitors. The most famous alternatives are ECLIPSE PVTi by Schlumberger, WinProp by CMG and pvtsim by Calsep International Consultants.
