Product software is a packaged configuration of software components or a software-based service, with auxiliary material, which is released for and traded in a specific market . This means that the software is made out of a set of software-components, it could have dependencies on other external included components or software, and it is released and traded in a specific market which implies that the software should be sold more than once unlike project software. Product Software is not limited as a physical product (like a CD-ROM with software on it) which should be shipped to its customers. Online distributed software, Open-source Software and even SaaS-solutions can be defined as Product Software if they meet above requirements.
