Prince Naveen

Prince Naveen is the Jazz-spirited prince who appeared in Disney's 2009 film The Princess and the Frog. Prince Naveen is voiced by Bruno Campos. Naveen is also the ninth Disney Prince.

The Princess and the Frog
Prince Naveen is first seen in the movie, when Mr. La Bouff (Charlotte's father, and the king of Mardi Gras) is reading a newspaper about the arrival of the prince. Prince Naveen goes there since his parents from Maldonia have cut him off due to his extravagant lifestyle, so he must either get a job or marry someone independently wealthy. When Prince Naveen arrives he's tricked by Doctor Facilier and is turned into a frog. Facilier traps him into a bottle, but Naveen’s servant Lawrence (who's now in with Facilier's plan) thinks he can do no harm to the plan and let him escape. Naveen finds Tiana dressed as a Princess. Believing she is a Princess, Naveen convinces her to kiss him to break the spell. However, since Tiana is a waitress and not a princess, the spell doesn't brake and Tiana is turned into a frog. Both of them escape the castle and end up in a pond. Facilier finds out about their escape, and asks the voodoo spirits to find the prince. Meanwhile Naveen and Tiana encounter an alligator named Luis and a firefly named Ray, who lead them to Mama Odie, a blind 197 year old voodoo priestess, who will help them become humans again. When the voodoo spirits find Naveen and try to bring him back to Facilier, he is saved by Mama Odie. Mama Odie tells the two frogs that only a princess’s kiss will break the spell, and that only Charlotte, who is the princess of Mardi Gras, can do that. However, she must kiss Naveen before midnight. Before Naveen, Tiana, Ray and Lous reach New Orleans, Naveen is captured by the voodoo spirits and brought to Facilier, who uses his blood to transform Lawrence into Prince Naveen, so he can marry Charlotte. Ray frees Naveen, while Tiana defeats Facilier. Naveen shows himself up to Charlotte and asks her to kiss him to break the spell. Tiana reveals her love for Naveen but before Charlotte can kiss Naveen and help the two frogs become human again, Mardi Gras is over and Charlotte's kiss doesn't work anymore. Naveen and Tiana decide to marry even if they remain frogs. When they marry Tiana becomes a princess and her kiss breaks the spell. Naveen and Tiana open the restaurant, and Naveen and Tiana discover that what they need is more important than what they want.
Other appearances
On October 26, 2009, Tiana's Showboat Jubilee debuted with appearances from Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Louis, and Doctor Facilier, at the Walt Disney World Resort; and later at the Disneyland Resort. Tiana and Naveen will soon be in the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade. Tiana and Naveen are also doing meet and greets at Disneyland's New Orleans Square and Walt Disney World's Liberty Square.
Development
Randy Haycock the supervising animator of Prince Naveen exclaimed that they wanted a frog that would look like Prince Naveen as a human. So some characteristics he has as a human stayed the same even when he was a frog (eyes, eyebrows, mouth etch...). He was originally named "Harry, but they later decided to go with the South Asian name "Naveen" that means "New" in Hindustani.
Posters and Trailers
Most posters show Tiana as a human holding Prince Naveen as a frog in one hand or two. One image shows Naveen as a human with Tiana as a frog on his shoulder. However none of the pictures represent actual scenes of the movie, since before anything like this could happen, Tiana and Naveen become frogs.
