In early 1990s, Walt Disney Company saw that cable TV industry was booming in Taiwan, and targeted Taiwan as the first overseas market of Disney Channel. Walt Disney Company partnered with then KMT funded Po-hsin Multimedia Inc., and Disney Channel Taiwan went on air on March, 1995 as the first bilingual Disney channel. Initially, the channel aired 24 hours a day with 10 hours of shows. The shows included a quarter of the shows of the original channel, and shows from motion pictures group and tv networks owned by Walt Disney Company. About 60% of its shows are dubbed in Mandarin. The channel is biligual. Most shows are dubbed and subtitled with Mandarin, and the original language is offered through Second audio program (SAP). However the SAP feature is often disabled by cable TV operators. All movies are Rated-G. The channel also shows Studio Ghibli's movies in two languages (the Chinese dub is arranged by Disney Taiwan).
