Prem Krishan Jain

Shri. Prem Krishan Jain, Addl. Director General of Police (Retd.) was born on 27 February 1954, He joined the Indian Police Service in 1981, his career spanned over 33 years, during which he have handled various field staff and administrative charges. He has recently joined in March 2014.
Positions Held
As Dy. Commissioner of Police/Supdt. of Police in various Commissionerates and Districts in Maharashtra
* He commanded a Force of 1500-4500 officers and men.
* He have successfully handled numerous law & order situations (including 1993 communal riots), controlled crime, managed VVIP security and security of vital installations etc.
* His job also included administration of establishment, office, budget & accounts, maintenance of Police buildings, training and staff welfare et al.
As Dy. Inspector General of Police (L&O), for 4 years, as Staff Officer to the Director General of Police, Maharashtra State
* He supervised the law & order and crime for the entire State.
* He also worked as the Nodal Officer for the State Assembly sessions, extensively interacting with and briefing the Chief Minister, Dy. Chief Minister, the Home Ministers and various senior functionaries.
* He was also the Nodal Officer for the Parliamentary and State Assembly elections.
As Joint Commissioner of Police (Adm.), Mumbai City
* He managed the establishment of the 45000-strong Police Force.
* He was directly in charge of budget, accounts, establishment matters, motor transport, wireless, Armed Police HQ, staff welfare, modernisation of Police force and provisioning etc.
* He started the Mumbai Police Family Health Scheme, Mumbai Police mobile connectivity, 1090- Infoline, Citizen Facilitation Centre (CFC), CCTV project for City Traffic Branch.
* He finalised the specs and procured many high-end security and surveillance equipments for Mumbai Police.
As Inspector General of Police, Security, Maharashtra State
* He was tasked to oversee the VVIP security, security audit and physical security of all vital installations, religious and iconic places and coastal security etc.
* He was also responsible for finalising the specs of high-end security and surveillance equipments for Maharashtra Police.
* He also represented the State in the inter-departmental and inter-disciplinary Intelligence Committee appointed by the Govt. of India.
* The departmental revamp of the intelligence machinery was done during my tenure.
His tenure as Principal Secretary, Home Department, Govt. of Maharashtra
* He use to closely interact with the Chief minister, Dy. Chief Minister, Home Minister, and other Ministers and Secretaries of practically all the Departments in the Government in the State and the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Govt. of India.
* Attended many national level conferences of Chief secretaries and Director Generals of Police of all the States/CPMFs, convened under the Chairmanship of the Prime Minister of India and the Union Home Minister.
* Many important policy decisions e.g. Purchase Policy, Vehicle Policy, Weapon Policy and Housing Policy etc. for the Police Dept. were taken during this stint.
Vice-Chairman & Managing Director of the Maharashtra State Security Corporation
* A new Security Corporation was developed by him from the stage of drafting the Act to raising the new Maharashtra Security Force from scratch.
* This Force is mandated to provide security to Govt. offices, public sector undertakings, financial, religious, medical and educational institutions and even private establishments, on demand.
Addl. Director General of Police, Spl. Ops.
* He has seen the best performance in the last 34-year history of anti- Naxal operations in the State. Many unprecedented policy decisions were taken during this period, which enhanced the effective and result-oriented aggressive operations of the Police force and brought kudos to the Maharashtra Police on the national front.
* Extensively interacted with the senior brass of Ministry of Home Affairs, Dept. of Telecom, all other LWE states on anti-Naxal Ops.
Other Important Positions
* Started the Maharashtra Intelligence Academy in the State, at Pune.
* Designed and started the first Anti-urban Terrorism Combat Course in Maharashtra Police.
* He has represented the State in the All-India Police Shooting Competition, captained the Team and has won various medals in the State Shooting competitions.
* He was the Hon. Secretary. of the IPS Officers Assn. Maharashtra Branch.
