Pamireddy Pitchi Reddy (better known as P.P. Reddy) is an Indian billionaire industrialist, Philanthropist and executive chairman of Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL). On Forbes' 2020 list of the wealthiest Indians, he was ranked #43 overall. Under MEIL, Reddy manages the company into irrigation, power, drinking water, oil & gas and renewable energy. The company made acquisitions to foray into the defence sector to set up a thermal power plant and overseas projects in Bangladesh, Jordan, Tanzania, Zambia and Kuwait. Early life and Career P.P. Reddy was born in to a farmer family on 1 October 1957 in Dokiparru village of Krishna district in India’s State of Andhra Pradesh. In 1989, he and two employees founded Megha Engineering Enterprises to build small pipes for municipalities in a small building of Balanagar, Hyderabad. In 2006, he changed the company's name from "Megha Engineering Enterprises" to "Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL)". He had already moved into Jamulapalle, a village in the Pithapuram mandal of the East Godavari district. A mineral water factory was even constructed to provide the locals with access to pure drinking water. Reddy took up cleaning and sanitary tasks in various villages as part of the Swachh Bharat initiative. He constructed a modern oncology centre at NIMS hospital in Hyderabad and provided free meal in Osmania, Niloufer and MNJ cancer hospitals. The 'Saddimuta" is a scheme to provide food to the farmers and labourers who come to the agriculture markets to sell their products.
