Potterless

Potterless is a comedy podcast created, hosted, produced, and edited by Michael Schubert to document his experience as a grown man reading the Harry Potter book series for the first time. Potterless is a part of the podcast collective Multitude Productions. The first episode was released on October 18, 2016, and new episodes are released every Monday.
Schubert began his career in comedy with YouTube and Vine before getting into improv comedy while at college. After entering the podcast business, one of Schubert's first topic ideas was Harry Potter, and the fact that he had never read the series gave him the idea for Potterless; however, he sat on the idea for some time before meeting his now wife, Kelly Schubert (née Beckman). At the end of each episode, Schubert signs off with the phrase, "Wizard On!".
Recurring Segments
Potterless episodes have several recurring segments. These include:
* Wingardium Ad-read-osa: Named after a pun on Harry Potter spell "Wingardium Leviosa", this segment occurs roughly halfway through each episode. In it, Schubert announces the sponsor(s) of the week's episode.
Live Shows
Schubert regularly performs live shows with guests in an array of cities across the United States. These shows have taken various formats, such as a Harry Potter version of the Bachelor in Los Angeles, CA (and the Bachelorette in Phoenix, AZ), a ranking of Harry Potter characters in Houston, TX, and a discussion of the pros and cons of Percy Weasley in Boston, MA.
Guest hosts
Some of the most known Schubert's guests are Vanessa Zoltan of the Harry Potter and the Sacred Text podcast, Helen Zaltzman of the Answer Me This! podcast, Matt Young of the Hello from the Magic Tavern podcast, Sequoia Thomas of the Fanatical Fics and Where to Find Them podcast, Miel Bredouw of the Punch Up the Jam! podcast, and Amanda McLoughlin & Julia Schifini of the Spirits podcast. The first round of guest hosts that Schubert brought onto Potterless were friends from his days on Vine. Despite people enjoying Schubert's podcasting style, some have proposed that the podcast might have done better were it hosted by a person from Britain. In 2019, Potterless was voted CelebMix's Podcast of the Year., and in 2018, Schubert was named one of Rice University's "20 Under 30" for his work on Potterless.
By August 2018, Potterless had 50,000 subscribers and 6.5 million downloads. As of February 2020, the podcast had over 500,000 subscribers and 30 million downloads.<ref name="auto2"/>
