Playcrafter is a free massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) virtual playground and workshop designed for children aged 11 and over. The game is made up of building bricks of various shapes and sizes. Playcrafter has no pre-defined goals, unlike some games. Players can build anything such as houses, churches, cities, swimming pools, and more and share them to the Playcrafter community. Playcrafter users can program the places they create with a simplified version of . History and development Playcrafter's project straddles aspects of online entertainment: virtual worlds, casual gaming, and user-constructed content. Customization Places Players in Playcrafter have the ability to construct up to many places with a regular account, out of an unlimited supply of virtual building blocks. These blocks can be customized to each players liking. Every user can customize it using materials such as bricks, scripts, GUIs, and other user created models in the Library. Currency Playcrafter has two virtual currencies in the form of Pips. Currencies can be exchanged using the Buy with Cash feature. Avatars Players in Playcrafter are given a picture to upload, which is used by the player when visiting each other's profile and to recognize each other, Which is changeable. User created things are available to purchase with Playcrafter's virtual currency, in the Library. Trophies Playcrafter provides users with achievement awards called Trophies. For example, Playcrafter has trophies awarded to people that . There are a total of trophies available to users. The Library The Library is where players purchase and sell creations for Pips, or get them for free. When selling, the money goes to the user who created the piece or file. Some items, such as music, can also be bought but can only be uploaded by a Premium member. However, players can now sell any background or piece that they have created. Premium Offers Playcrafter Premium Although Playcrafter is free, it offers premium membership in the form of Playcrafter Premium. With any form of Premium, Playcrafter provides players premium features,including a daily income of Pips and the ability to upload music. Central Bank Playcrafter added the "central bank", where users can buy Pips for cash. Playcrafter Premium members get more Pips with paying the same amount of money with non-Premium members. Also, Playcrafter premium members can buy smaller amounts of Pips (which is cheaper) while free members cannot. Gameplay Playcrafter users can play as the play created piece that is part of the game in the 2D worlds that have been constructed by other users. Games Users are allowed to visit other users created places and see their creations. A game is built up of virtual bricks and XML scripts to allow users to make whatever they wish. Users are generally allowed to create any place or game they wish, but there are guidelines on sensitive subjects. Sounds Different sounds can be programmed to occur at certain times and durations. The music can be bought, but to upload your own you must pay for the Playcrafter Premium Membership. Playcrafter Workshop The Playcrafter Workshop is a program very similar to Microsoft Visual Studio, used to build, edit, or test places. It is an essential program in order to do things such as scripting and advanced building. With Playcrafter Workshop, the user does not have a character and he/she uses the board to construct the game. The player can pause, cut and copy in Playcrafter Workshop. Economy Playcrafter has its own virtual economy. Players can earn a currency, called Pips. Users are awarded Pips when other users to visit their virtual places, and from selling their user made pieces and uploaded files on Playcrafter's currency market. Players are also given a quota of points every time they login, which gets you to the next level. Members paying for a Playcrafter Premium subscription receive an additional daily allowance of Pips. Interaction Chat Modes In-game and in-workshop chat is always filtered for profanity and inappropriate terms, however, the user may chat in the chat room displayed while they are building or playing. Social Features Playcrafter also added a feature called a Holler, which allows users to leave a message for another user to see on their profile. when you see the particular person, you may click on his or her avatar to view their profile.
