Plasti-Clad is a plastic technology for manufacturing road cases made up of composite material. It was developed by South-Pak, a privately-held Norcross, GA based company specializing in the design, engineering and manufacturing of custom cases and custom shipping solutions for industry and government. South-Pak, Inc. is a distributor for other case manufacturers including Pelican and SKB. The company primarily engineers custom made road cases, flight cases, and other container and packaging products. South-Pak, Inc. is a leading defense contractor in the case manufacturing industry. Features Plasti-Clad ATA cases are created with a aluminum and plastic composite panel structure. Weight is thus typically reduced by 25% to 35% compared to comparable wooden shipping container, and similar to molded plastic cases. Unlike molded cases, Plasti-Clad prevents temperature from affecting the rigidness of the container or case. Plasti-Clad is available in 12 color options. FoamFrame and Plasti-Clad are two industry innovations developed by South-Pak, Inc. FoamFrame is a process of foam manufacturing produced by specialized foams that are combined with selected structural plastics to create a strong structure with minimal weight. The engineering process enhances durability and allows for little maintenance and low repair costs over the lifetime of a case. Plasti-Clad are a type of road cases made with advanced plastic and aluminum composite panel structures that yields high strength and light weight. They also incorporate standard ATA hardware, but allow for advanced features such as recessed latches and handles that do not breach the inner case wall. Uses This technology is used by The United States Military, Siemens, and The Brink's Company. Notably, every bag used by Brinks to carry cash between the armored truck and safes at retail locations has a case designed by South-Pak, Inc. inside. The custom manufactured container inside the bag allows cash and coins to remain organized. The common perception that money bags contain unorganized wads of United States Currency is false. Manufacturing Process South-Pak manufactures their Plasti-Clad by using methods including CAD design, CAD routing, waterjet cutting, die cutting, and hand prototyping. The process starts with an initial consultation with the client. Then, a case exterior type is selected based on expressed requirements. Options include stocked molded cases or South-Pek invented case exteriors such as Bi-Core walls, Plasti-Clad Ulta walls, or Plasti-Clad Ulta Light walls. A quote is provided to the client based on the selected material and if the client accepts the quote, a prototype is manufactured. Upon prototype approval, bulk production begins followed by a quality assurance process.
