Pinanas is an April Fool`s joke advertised in many newspapers in March 2009. The advertisement is produced by the leading supermarket chain Waitrose. Waitrose are offering "Pinanas" 'fresh in today.' The ad goes on to say that 'if you find that all Waitrose pinanas have sold out, don't worry, there's 50% off our essential Waitrose strawberries.'
In 2010, the public thought that Waitrose was pulling another April fool`s by introducing Pineberry, a special combination of strawberries and pineapples which is smaller than a strawberry. Coincidentally, this product was only being sold at Waitrose and at the time of April Fools' Day.
