Pierre Desrochers

Pierre Desrochers is an Associate Professor of geography born in 1969. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Montreal (1992), a master’s degree in urban studies from the National Institute of Scientific Research (1995), and a Ph.D in geography from the University of Montreal (2000). He is particularly interested and specialized in economic development, technological innovation, entrepreneurship, international trade, business-environment, business-university interactions, intellectual property and urban and housing policy.
Career
Pierre Desrochers is currently an Associate Professor of geography at the University of Toronto Mississauga. He has held several notable positions, such as Senior Research Fellow at the Center for the History of Political Economy (Duke University) in 2010, Julian Simon Fellow at the Property and Environment Research Center (PERC) in 2009, Research Director at the Montreal Economic Institute (MEI) from 2001 to 2003, Post-doctoral Fellow and Senior Research Fellow for the W.P. Carey Programs on Entrepreneurship and Management (Johns Hopkins University) from 1999 to 2001, and Research Fellow at the PERC (Summer 1999), the Institute for Humane Studies (Summer 1998), and at the de l’Université de Toulouse (Summer 1996).
