Pierra Akwero

Pierra Akwero (born 18 December 1987) is a recording artist, songwriter and model. Pierra started her career as a model in 2005, appearing in notable magazines like the African Woman Magazine. She walked on many fashion runways for renown fashion designers and also won the 2007 Miss Uganda National Pageant. Pierra then participated in international beauty pageants between 2009 and 2013. She made her first international stage appearance as a beauty queen in the Miss Friendship Internal 2009, Miss International 2009, Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2010, Miss Bikini International 2011 and Miss Grand International 2013.
Pierra started writing various songs in 2011 in preparation for her singing career as a solo artist. She recorded several of her songs with her first single "emptyness" released in 2012, which premiered on the national television of the country(Uganda Broadcasting Corporation). It later received a lot of airplay on the various television stations in the country. Her second single "Anyaka," which was released in May 2013, got a lot of airplay on various radio stations in various parts of the country and on television stations.
Pierra made her first performance as a singer in 2013 when she performed at the zirian fashion show. She was later booked to go on tour with the Miss Uganda team in April 2013-June 2013 as they did their regional tours. This marked the beginning of Pierra's professional rise as a solo artist and performer.
Early life and career
Pierra Akwero was born in Uganda. She is the daughter of former Banker Obol P.K Andrew and Mary Tina Obol, a professional teacher. Pierra was named after an Italian friend of the family. She is the seventh child of nine children, three brothers and five sisters. Pierra has a bit of Ethiopian heritage from her mother's side. Pierra who comes from a Catholic family was brought up in a Christian way that helped groom her with humility. Pierra attended St.Lawrence Citizens High School: Kabakas lake campus, Creamland campus, for her secondary education and later enrolled in Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi where she acquired a Bachelor's degree in Ethics and Development studies. While in secondary school, she participated in various writing competitions, beauty competitions, dance, drama and later in the university's annual varsity ball competitions.
Musical career
Pierra Akwero started her solo musical career in late 2012. She juggled from studio to studio, later resulting in the release of her first single, "Emptyness." In early 2013, under the management of Kezzi entertainment, she went on her first ever musical tour with the Miss Uganda team. In mid 2013, she released a new single entitled "Anyaka," a mixture of both the English language and her mother language "Acholi." Pierra then went on to make appearances on various television stations to promote her music. In late 2013, Pierra performed alongside the Swangz Avenue crew, which comprised recording artists such as Vampino, Viboyo, Sheeba, and others, at the end of year purple party, organized by renown television presenter Douglas.
Pierra has since then made appearances on various televisions like , Uganda Broadcasting Corporation, WBS, and Record TV. In early 2014, Pierra released her single "Awaci" that led to her performing at the Lady Crane International fashion collection. In mid 2014, she released her hit single "like tattoos" that received tremendous radio airplay. The release of this song prompted various media houses to pay more attention, landing her more interviews on various media houses/sites.
