Phil Ehr is an American politician from Denver, CO. He is a member of the Democratic Party, who ran to unseat Matt Gaetz in 2018 and 2020. He is also a veteran of the Navy. Education 1979-1982 He attended Tulane University for mechanical engineering 1983 He got a BS for political science at the University of the state of New York 1986-1993 He got a masters in international relations at Troy University 1992-1994 He became a graduate of the school of Command and Naval Staff at the Naval War College. 2008-2011 He attended King's College in London for a PhD in war studies, and also became a teaching fellow there. Political Career 2018 He ran for Democratic Nominee for the 2018 United States House of Representatives election in District 1. He lost to Jennifer Zimmerman 2020 He was Democrat nominee for the 2020 election in Florida Congressional District 1, after winning the local race for nominee. He garnered support by pledging to protect public beach access. Ultimately, he failed to unseat Matt Gaetz on election day, which was November 3rd.
