Pharos Systems International, Inc. is a privately held company that provides print management software and services. The company was founded in Auckland, New Zealand in 1992 by Geoff Shaw and Paul Reddy. A U.S. office was opened in 1994 in Houston, Texas, and global headquarters were established in Rochester, New York in 2001. The same year, Kevin Pickhardt, a former executive of Xerox Corporation, joined the company as Chief Executive Officer. Pharos maintains a research and development facility in New Zealand. Pharos works with many other technology companies, including Blackboard, Canon, CBORD, Heartland Payment Systems, Hewlett-Packard, Konica Minolta, Lexmark, Ricoh, Sharp, Toshiba, and Xerox. Pharos was named after the Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the wonders of the ancient world. Software Products Pharos Systems’ principal software products are Pharos Uniprint for the education and library markets and Pharos Blueprint Enterprise for the corporate market. Both are available with Secure Release Here, a pull printing application designed to reduce paper waste while providing print job security and printing flexibility. Pharos software is available embedded in multifunction printers to provide user authentication, pull-printing, and print/copy accounting. Services In 2009, Pharos added consulting and on-site print management and sourcing services to its portfolio through the acquisition of PathForward, a business unit of Standard Register. These services cover office and home-based printing, internal production environments, and externally procured print. Awards In 2008 and 2009, Pharos Systems won Best of Show and Best Software Solution at the Print & Imaging Summit, an event attended by Information Technology executives. In 2005, Pharos Systems was given the Software Company of the Year Award by the New Zealand Hi-Tech Trust, which recognizes companies that demonstrate innovation, exporting success, and business growth.
