The Peucinian Society was a literary society at Bowdoin College in the 1800s. Formed November 22, 1805 as The Philomathian Society, the name was changed the following year. Membership dues were used to create a library of books. In 1880, the libraries of the Peucinian Society and its former rival, the Athenian Society, were merged and the Peucinian Society was considered defunct.
