Peter Simko

Peter Simko (born 4 May 1966) is a heavyweight boxer from Slovakia. Simko gained some notoriety when he fought Norwegian javelin throwing champion Pal Arne Fagernes on April 6, 2003. Fargernes, who was making his pro debut, knocked Simko out in twenty-five seconds.
At the time of the Fagernes fight, Simko was profiled in a Norwegian newspaper, where it was revealed that he was to be paid 700 euros for the bout. It was also reported that he was a professional policeman, but had no intention of retiring from his second career as a boxer because he was the father of a young son born with severe brain damage, and the only way that he could hope to pay for the operations which might make him well was to press on with his ring career.
He resides in Martin in Slovakia.
