Max Hord

Max Hord (born April 5, 1953) in Raleigh, North Carolina was an amateur and professional boxer.

Amateur career

Hord began his amateur career in 1966 where he won several bouts at the local Police Athletic League in Fernandina Beach. He was trained by Vernon Guest who taught him how to throw a perfect left hook. Hord quit boxing when he entered High School and concentrated on baseball. After graduating from High School in 1971 he began another amateur career with veteran trainer Earl Burch. Hord boxed for 3 years in Florida and Georgia tournaments while at the same time playing baseball at Florida Junior college in Jacksonville, FL.

Professional career

Hord began his professional career in 1974 and boxed until 1983. His most notable fight was against Tony Danza where he was knocked out in one round.

Today

Max Hord is living in Fernandina Beach,Fla with his wife Jo Ann. They have one son Max Benton Hord who is nineteen.
