Lonzo Ayers

Lonzo Thomas Ayers (June 29, 1923 - March 1986) known as Tommy Ayers was an American Minor League Baseball pitcher from 1947-1949.
Ayers was the brother of New York Giants pitcher Bill Ayers and the father of Montreal Expos pitcher Steve Ayers.
Early life
Ayers was born in Newnan, Georgia on June 29, 1923. He had an older brother, Bill Ayers.
Ayers enlisted in the United States Navy for World War II on December 10, 1942.
Career
Ayers played for the Georgia-Alabama League team the Griffin Pimientos at the start of 1947, later transferring to the Newnan Brownies that same year. That year he played 107 innings, earning his lowest ERA of his career at 3.20.
In 1948 Ayers played for the West Palm Beach Indians of the Florida International League. Ayers pitched 46 games, totalling 220 innings with a 4.01 ERA, and a win-loss percentage of 56.3%.
His last year in professional baseball, in 1949 Ayers played for the Montgomery Rebels of the Southeastern League. Ayers finished the season with a 4.36 ERA, playing 99 innings.
Personal life
Ayers was married to Margaret Daniel Ayers (née Thompson).
Ayers comes from a family of professional baseball player. His brother Bill Ayers pitched for the New York Giants and his son Steve Ayers pitched for the Montreal Expos.
Ayers passed away in March 1986 in Georgia.
