Peter Hemming

Peter Hemming is an American author and photojournalist specializing in natural history subjects. He is the son of Emmy winning comedy writer Jack Douglas and big band singer Marion Hutton.
Early life, college years
Incorporating photography with his love of scuba diving, Hemming began to document the marine life around his home waters of Laguna Beach. He started publishing stories in the 1970s for various scuba diving magazines.
In college Hemming majored in TV & Film Production and later joined the Screen Actors Guild and AFTRA.
Career
Since the mid-1990s Hemming has traveled extensively from Africa to the Arctic and his articles and photographs have appeared in many periodicals throughout the world such as BBC Wildlife, Robb Report, Outside, National Geographic online, LA Times Travel and Sierra Heritage. His image of icebergs appeared in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History as a pictorial study on global warming. He is a frequent contributor to conservation groups such as the World Wildlife Fund, Oceana, 350 & Friends of the Elephant Seal.
Hemming is also a member of the Explorers Club, the American Society of Media Photographers, the North American Nature Photography Association, Nikon Professional Services and is a sponsored photographer for Lowepro and Lexar.
Hemming makes his home in Carmel California.
