Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

The Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, also known as the PLDS Church, is a sect of the Latter Day Saint movement organized in 1994-1995 by a study group called the "LDS Scripture Readers", led by Michael Bethel, composed initially of independent Mormons and members of various Mormon sects. The church was originally headquartered in Kenner, Louisiana. It moved to Davenport, Iowa in 2002 under the leadership of John Q Mormon aka, John Westhoff. Westhoff is a lobbyist for plural marriage in Iowa, however the PLDS has made no such "doctrine", it is evidently a lone endeavor of Westhoff's. Article 82 has been the only doctrinal declaration of the the PLDS church since it's beginning in 2002. Article 82 declares the Book of Mormon and the Bible as scripture, however John Q Mormon has never preached from the Book of Mormon. Article 82 has many annotations to the Book of Mormon evidently used as support to Westhoff's theology. They accept the Bible and some study the Book of Mormon as scripture, but reject other elements of Mormonism, including the Doctrine and Covenants, the Mormon Godhead, the First Presidency, and the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthoods. The church believes in the imminent Second Coming of Jesus. The group believes in a present gift of tongues and bases the belief on both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. There are approximately thirty four adherents in the local assembly or "Church" and approximately 455 around the globe.
