Joao Pedro Miguell (born inCovilhã, 1991) is a Portuguese musician (pianist , orchestra conductor and composer who works mainly in Sweden and Scandinavia. He divides his style between classical music, neo-minimalism, film-music and contemporary music. Since 2012 he his represented by Nowartis and has released his album Timings featuring piano and soundtrack music. Biography Pedro Miguell received his early musical education at the age of three, studying piano at Conservatório Regional de Música da Covilhã. In 2012, he graduated in Music Composition from Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espectáculo part of the Instituto Politecnico do Porto, where he studied under Carlos Guedes and Fredrick Gifford. He has also studied with Eugénio Amorim, Dimitris Andrikopoulos, Carlos Azevedo, Pedro Santos, Kaija Saariaho, Emmanuel Nunes, Betty Olivero, Ivo Medek, among others, participating actively in several Workshops and Master Classes. In 2015, he finished his master's degree at Göteborgs University under supervision of Ole Lützow-Holm, Ming Tsao and Anders Hultqvist. During his master time he had the opportunity to work on projects where Karin Rehnqvist and Luca Francesconi were present. In 2016 he continued his academic research at Lund University. Career Pedro works today as a cellist, composer/arranger and orchestral conductor. His work is divided between classical music, and contemporary music. He started in 2012 after he graduated, being represented by Nowartis™ and working with some small opera companies as well some music ensembles and chamber orchestras between Gothenburg and London. Between 2013-2015 (his second cycle of academic studies) he had the opportunity to work as composer with orchestras like Musica Vitae (Växjö, May 2014) and Norrköping Symphony Orchestra (Norrköping, May 2015). At the same time he worked as conductor with Artmus Camerata, Gumus Kammarorkester, Musica Vitae among others. As soon as he finished his master's degree in Sweden, he started to collaborate as producer and musician of (GAO) Göteborgs Alternativa orkester, changing later to Moderna Orkester which he also helped to create. He tries to help the orchestras as much as he can within his artistic skills involving performance, composition and conducting. His music was and continues also being played by different orchestras and chamber music groups around Sweden. He also premieres sometimes his own music for cello and electronics and multimedia/film. In 2015 became the youngest artistic researcher at SNAR conducting investigations between Buddhist practices and electronic music. 2016 marks his third cycle of Academic studies and his emergence in the contemporary style. March 2016, he released his album Timings consisting of 5 soundtracks featuring piano music. 2016 Marks also his connection to live concerts featuring solo cello and electronic art music.
