Paul Paulson is an American businessman. He is currently Republican State Committeeman for Orange County and a Republican candidate for Florida Commissioner of Agriculture. Personal life Paulson grew up on a cattle farm and now raises cattle in east Orange County and has a citrus farm in Lake County in addition to working as a home builder. He earned his J.D. from the University of Florida and served for 10 years in the U.S. Army's Pershing Missile Brigade as a rifle platoon leader and acting inspector general before practicing law. He also served as a Commander in a Florida Army reserve unit and is currently the JAG officer for a Winter Park, Florida American Legion post. Paulson is the founder of Help the Vets and a Breast Cancer charity and a member of the Florida Cattleman's Association and the National Rifle Association. He was elected Republican State Committeeman for Orange County in a 2016 election. 2015 Orlando Mayoral Election In 2015, Paulson ran for Mayor of Orlando, Florida, losing to incumbent Mayor Buddy Dyer with . 2018 Campaign for Florida Commissioner of Agriculture In late December 2016, Paulson announced that he would run for Florida Commissioner of Agriculture, seeking to succeed fellow Republican Adam Putnam, who is term-limited out at the end of 2018. With his announcement, he seeded his campaign with a $120,000 personal loan and has pledged to spend up to $1 million of his own money on the race.
