Patrick Milling-Smith

Patrick Milling-Smith is a film, theater, music video, commercial and experiential producer. He co-founded international production company SMUGGLER with Brian Carmody in 2002.

SMUGGLER launched in 2002 and has since won three Emmy Awards and three Cannes Lions , along with several Cannes Lions Grand Prixs, including most recently in 2018 for Jay Z’s video Smile, directed by Miles Jay.
In April of 2018, Patrick produced MGM Resorts’ Universal Love Album with McCann New York, which featured classic love songs re-imagined by such musical icons as Bob Dylan, , and St. Vincent. Pronouns of the traditionally heterosexual love songs were swapped to reflect same-sex affection. The Album went on to win 5 Cannes Lions, including one Gold Lion, at the 2018 Cannes Lions Awards.
Film & Theatre
Patrick’s feature film producing credits include Greetings from Tim Buckley, Weightless written by Enda Walsh and starring Alessandro Nivola, and Jimmy P: Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian starring Benicio Del Toro.
Upcoming film projects include a remake of The Wild Geese written by William Monahan and the adaptation of Jean Anouilh’s play Becket, written by William Monahan and to be directed by Michael Mann.
Patrick’s Broadway theatre productions include the play Seminar starring Alan Rickman, which premiered on Broadway and was extended with Jeff Goldblum as the lead, and his most recent productions Once and The Kids Stays In The Picture, which he produced alongside Barbara Broccoli, Brian Carmody, and Fred Zollo.
After a run at the New York Theatre Workshop, Once moved to Broadway’s Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre and officially opened Sunday, March 18, 2012, recouping its initial $5.5 million investment after only 21 weeks and 169 performances. It was nominated for 11 Tony Awards in 2012, and went on to win 8 including Best Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Actor in a Musical, Best Orchestrations, Best Scenic Design of a Musical, Best Lighting Design of a Musical, and Best Sound Design of a Musical. On February 10, 2013, Once also took home Best Musical Theater Album at the 55th annual Grammy Awards. The musical toured the US, Toronto, Australia, Korea and London's West End where it was nominated for six Olivier Awards including Best Musical in 2014.
In 2017, Patrick produced The Kid Stays in the Picture, based on the memoir of the same name by Robert Evans. Adapted and directed by Simon McBurney, the play premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in London in March, 2017 and focuses the rise and fall of Robert Evans (born in New York in 1930 and still going), the former head of Paramount Pictures who produced Love Story, ', ' and The Godfather.
For the 2019 Super Bowl, SMUGGLER and DDB teamed up to put a one-night-only Broadway Musical Commercial. Skittles Commercial: The Broadway Musical starred Michael C. Hall, and was co-written by Pulitzer-finalist playwright Will Eno, and Nathanial Lawlor.
