Parthiv Shah is founder-director of Centre for Media and Alternative Communication (CMAC), an alumnus of the National Institute of Design, he University of California, Davis and visiting scholar at the SOAS, London University. Personal Life Parthiv is a photographer, film maker and a graphic designer. He has made several documentary films, curated exhibitions and has several photo-books to his credit. He grew up in a family of artists. He works with communities which are finding a mainstream voice and identity. He was advising as creative consultant at Prasar Bharati for re branding of prime time at Doordarshan and All India Radio. Early life Parthiv Shah was born on 16 May in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. Influenced greatly by his father, Haku Shah, an eminent Indian artist, cultural anthropologist, and an author of international repute on folk and tribal art and culture, Parthiv developed an inclination towards photography, art and image perception and decided to further pursue his interest. Career He started his career in 1986 as a film intern for a six-part film series The Ring of Truth at Public Broadcasting Associates, Cambridge, Massachusets. He continued to work in the Film and Video space in companies like Public Broadcasting Service. In 1988 he worked as Associate Director for the video series "Design and the Designer" for UNESCO which was produced by his alma mater, the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. He also frequents as visiting faculty at National School of Drama (NSD) and National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and . IN 1999 he founded Centre For Media & Alternative Communication (CMAC) and currently heads the organisation.
