Paratrooping

Paratrooping (sometimes referred to as "banging-for-roof") is the act of foregoing a hotel room after you just flown in from out of town (has to be an unfamiliar city) and instead go straight to the bar with the sole intention of hooking up with someone so you have a place to stay for the night. In this way, you do not have to go out of your way by paying for a hotel room.
This is an example of how the conversation would go:
Friend: "So, which hotel are you staying at in Boston?"
You: "Actually, I think I'll just go paratrooping this time."
Another example:
Friend: "I hear you're going to Vegas this weekend. Where are you staying?"
You: "Not sure yet. I am paratrooping it straight from the airport."
The term paratrooping was made famous by the show How I Met Your Mother in the episode called .
