Page 80 is an Alternative/Funk Metal band from Murfreesboro, TN. Their line-up consists of Harlan Smith (Vocals, Lead Guitar) Ryan Hauschild (Bass, Vocals) and Brandon Dempsey (Drums.) They are known for their cartoonish vocals, Les Claypool inspired bass lines, and technical instrumental breakdowns. They are currently on hiatus. Harlan Smith and Brandon Dempsey are currently playing in the Indie Rock band, Rollo Greb , while also playing in the Metallica/Pantera tribute group, Pantallica. Biography According to the band's myspace, Page 80 was formed in 1999 when Ryan and Harlan met while playing in the Middle Tennessee State University marching band and started jamming in their dormrooms. While Ryan and Harlan were jamming, Brandon heard them through the floor of his dorm, and came with nothing but a lone cymbal to jam with them. They started playing open mic-nights around Murfreesboro. Soon they formed Page 80, and played around the southwestern United States from 1999 to 2005. In 2005, Page 80 recorded their self titled debut album (sometimes referred to as the "Red" album) at the El Studio. In 2006 they disbanded after Ryan moved to Utah. Harlan and Brandon now both play in the bands, Rollo Greb and Pantallica. Harlan has also been a part of bands such as Grindcore band, Making Jesus Mad, and Thrash Metal band, Armament. Music Page 80 have cited influences such as Primus, Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, The Beatles, Nirvana, and Led Zeppelin . The band has a very diverse sound. The bass of Page 80 combines Slap and pop, left and right handed tapping, and walk-ups and walk-downs. The guitar plays either an intersecting riff with the bass or plays a bluegrass influenced plucking riff. The drums are very speedy and hard hitting much like Tim Alexander from Primus.
