Out Of Court

Out Of Court is a feature film created by Manchester writer and artist Andy Pacino. It is based on a true life story concerning the breakup of a family unit and the subsequent court case involving the much aligned family legal system in England and Wales.
Casting for Out Of Court was held at the Black Lion in Salford and was filmed in Stockport's High Lane studio, then run by Bob and Brenda Thompson, two local entrepreneurs who saw the benefit f airing the extremely "touchy" subject of Family Law.
Originally cast as Ritchie Goodman was Greg Kelly, an actor who has since appeared in the continuing teen drama, Hollyoaks as an eco warrior.
Director and writer Andy Pacino stepped into the role and played Ritchie, but this meant Adam Harper, who had originally been cast as Ritchie's brother, Jamie, was "too young looking" to give the film the credibility Pacino wanted.
Cameraman Jamie Leeming was introduced to play the role instead. Lily Lowe Myers took the role as Jill Malo, the "scorned woman" and Mae Brogan won the role of Pauline, Jill's mother. Along with Helen Fullerton, who played Cerys Jones, the social worker, was Keith de Winter who played Jill's lawyer, Peter Buckley.
The story centres around a video diary Ritchie has been making since contact between him and his son was stopped by his ex partner and mother of the child, Jill. From what the viewer sees, Jill has given no reason for the cessation of visitation and Ritchie feels he has been left to face the trauma without any support from the British legal system.
It is relatively common knowledge that the family law system is systematically erring on the side of the maternal mother when it comes to ta breakdown in the family unit, and this has seen the growth of organisations such as Fathers 4 Justice, founded by Matt O'Connor.
