Orphan 101 is a name of electronic dance music producer Robert Davies
Career
Davies started out playing alongside Headhunter on Bristols pirate radio station BS1 under the name WhiteBoi the pair later became part of J@kes's famed Bristol Dubstep crew H.E.N.C.H. His earliest releases are with fellow Bristolian Komonazmuk on Komonazmuks Mode Recordings imprint in early 2007 they then later had several joint releases on Combat Recordings. Davies then moved on to his own digital label White boi Audio. Many critics and bloggers have cited Davies as one of the pioneers along with Distance, Vex'd, Lone Wolf and Luke Envoy of a much more aggressive style of Dubstep. His earlier more subtle works are featured on Bristol Dubstep documentary Living Inside The Speaker and show his impressive musical taste and diversity. It seems that Davies reverted back to his more melodic side when he re appeared some years later as Orphan 101. His first release on Saigon Recordings titled Tribtek (parts 1 and 2) was originally a 15 minute piece split into two parts to fit onto a 12 inch vinyl the release saw Davies receive great acclaim and instant recgnition under this new moniker. His second release on Deca Rhythm (a label he runs with Headhunter and Bloodman) alongside Headhunter showed his diversity and willingness to release multiple genre music. His best selling track to date is Disemble and Propa released on Appleblims Applepips imprint In early 2011 this release brought Davies into a more recognized catorgary of producer due to the high interest in the Applepips label. Another 3 track E.P followed on Saigon Recordings in February of 2011.
