Optimus Prime ending speech
|
The "Optimus Prime ending speech" is the three speeches/monologues narrated by Optimus Prime, voiced by Peter Cullen, which occurs as a conclusion at the end of each Transformers film. The first ending speech occurs in the 2007 film Transformers in which Optimus Prime says that the Autobots have been given a new home: "Earth", and acknowledges the human's capacity for courage, and that they are "more than meets the eye"-another common phrase used throughout the Transformers film trilogy. In the second film, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Optimus states that their races have been united, and that they share a common past. He then sends a message to the universe, so that their pasts will always be remembered. In the third film, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Prime states that there will be days when allies turn against "us", and that people will lose faith, but there will never be a day when the Autobots forsake Earth. Background The speech was originally written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman for the first installment in Michael Bay's Transformers film series, as the film series progress, in the second film, written with the similar script writers, and with an addition with Ehren Kruger, who also wrote the third installment, including its speech. Usage in the films Transformers (2007) As the concluding battle in the 2007 film Transformers ends, with decapitated and dumped in the bottom of the ocean, Optimus begins his speech: "With the All Spark gone, we cannot return life to our planet. And fate has yielded its reward, a new world to call home. We live among its people now, hiding in plain sight, but watching over them in secret, waiting, protecting. I have witnessed their capacity for courage, and though we are worlds apart, like us, there's more to them than meets the eye. I am Optimus Prime, and I send this message to any surviving Autobots taking refuge among the stars. We are here, we are waiting." Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen In Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Optimus Prime was revived by protagonist Sam Witwicky, and with the Fallen defeated, voice actor Peter Cullen reads the speech directly from the script: "Our races, united by a history long forgotten and a future we shall face together. I am Optimus Prime, and I send this message so that our past will always be remembered. For in those memories, we live on." Transformers: Dark of the Moon In Transformers: Dark of the Moon, with the "once and for all defeat of the Decepticons": including Megatron's destruction and execution for his betrayal towards Autobots, and with Sam and Carly Spencer reunited, Optimus gives his final ending speech: "In any war there are calms between storms. There will be days when we lose faith, days when our allies turn against us. But the day will never come when we forsake this planet... and its people. I am Optimus Prime, and I send this to the universe: We are here. We are home."
