Operation Aginor

Operation Aginor (Greek: ) was an operation of the Hellenic Navy to evacuate several citizens from the war torn Tripoli in Libya.
Operation
The operation started in 31 July 2014 at 21:00 a.m EET by the Hellenic Navy. After sailing about 27 hours the accesses the port of Tripoli. Immediately the Underwater Demolition Command (OYK), who was on board the ship, secured suitable space around the harbor in order to settle there the embarkation station of the staff of the frigate. The frigate remained at a safe distance near the port and the boarding of citizens was carried out by dinghies of the Libyan navy. However, due to the large amount of waves, it was not possible to transport all citizens to the ship. Thus, the transfer continued with two Libyan trailers. It should be noted that during all routes by land to the frigate, the men of the OYK unit, aboard a specially equipped boat, accompanied the boats and tugs, while the Salamis was observing all the prescribed safety and preparedness measures for the protection of the citizens and countering any threat. The operation was also assisted by a helicopter team of the OYK.
The operation was completed in the early hours of the next day. The frigate picked up a total of 186 citizens of which 77 were from Greece (including the staff of the Greek Embassy), 12 from Cyprus, 78 from China, 10 from the United Kingdom, 7 from Belgium, one from Russia and one from Albania.
