Ontario Place Station is a proposed rapid transit station for the Ontario Line in Toronto, Ontario. On April 10, 2019, the Government of Ontario tabled its budget. New projects included a new rapid transit line, the Ontario Line, which would link a not yet complete Ontario Science Centre station to a new station at Ontario Place.<ref nameTheStar2019-04-12a/><ref nameblogto2019-04-11/> The announcement stirred controversy, as Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, had spoken of transforming Ontario Place, previously a family oriented venue, into an adult oriented casino complex, and they suspected that this transit line was aimed at visiting gamblers, not the citizens of Ontario.<ref nameTheStar2019-04-12a/><ref nameTheStar2019-04-10a/><ref nametheglobeandmail2019-04-10/><ref nametoronto2019-04-11/> Ford has denied that the extension is related to any casino plans.<ref name=torontosun2019-04-11/> The Globe and Mail reported that no previous plan had ever considered making Ontario Place a subway destination, and that the announcement surprised everyone, including Mayor of Toronto, John Tory.<ref name=theglobeandmail2019-04-10/>
