A "One-upper" is someone who generally feels the need to equate their social status and self-esteem via material objects that are better than yours. Also "One-uppers" suffer from "Anything you can do, I can do better" Syndrome, and, what's more commonly referred to as Little Man Syndrome Whenever a "one-upper" is aware of new material gains or talents by anyone else the "One-upper" in question has a few options:
1. Immediately buy something bigger and better.
2. If it is a newfound talent or skill the "One-upper" has to decide whether or not that talent or skill is one they wish to be "better than you" at. If the "One-upper" decides it is worth pursuing He/She will devote whatever time and/or resources necessary to barely surpass your ability in the aforementioned skill or talent. If the "One-upper" tries to surpass your newfound skill or talent and fails your skill or talent then becomes instantly inferior.
