Olorogun Oskar Ibru

Olorogun Oskar Ibru is the first son of business mogul Olorogun Michael Ibru. He is a Nigerian businessman who heads most of the companies under the Ibru Organization. Oskar is married to an American named Wanda. They have three children, Makashe, Ebruba and Nenesi.
Early life
Olorogun Oskar Christopher James Eyovbirere Ibru was born on the 11th of August 1958 in Lagos, Nigeria to Olorogun Michael Onajirhevbe Ibru, the head of the globally known Ibru Dynasty, and Mrs. Elsie Nelly Ibru, nee Krupp. Eyovbirere in the Urhobo language means “All is well”. Olorogun Ibru was brought up in an atmosphere that unifies the noble, with an intellectual quest and dedication to industry, alongside generosity. These are some of the principles that have guided Olorogun OCJI as he is often called. The cardinal philosophy of seeing himself as the son of a “humble fisherman”, whose contribution to the Nation’s economic and political advancement transcends the shores of Nigeria and the African continent, has made OCJI a model to the young generation.
Education
Olorogun Oskar Ibru attended YWCA Nursery school, Our Lady of Apostles Primary School, and Corona School, Yaba. Later on St. Andrew’s School, Eastbourne in England. Like his father’s generation of the Ibru’s, OCJI also attended the famous Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos. Olorogun Ibru returned to the United Kingdom where he was enrolled at Millfield School, Somerset, before proceeding to Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, New York. Here he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management and American History. Thereafter, Olorogun Ibru attained a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Atlanta University Graduate School of Business Administration.

Working career
Upon graduation, Olorogun Ibru returned to Nigeria for the compulsory one-year National Youth Service Scheme and in 1983 served with the Guardian Press Limited. At the end of the program, OCJI was seconded to the Group chairman’s office for thorough business tutelage and grooming in preparation for the arduous task of administration affairs of the Ibru organization. He presently functions as the Group CEO and Vice Chairman of the Ibru Organization. Olorogun Ibru directs the executives of the most of the companies, particularly in the areas of fishing, agriculture, and allied matters; petroleum related issues, property and investment, engineering and construction.

Community development
Olorogun Oskar Ibru has contributed immensely towards community developments throughout Nigeria. As a result, Olorogun has been appreciated and acknowledged by awards and various chieftaincy titles. Many Nigerians have also benefited from his scholarship schemes and he has donated handsomely to various national institutions as well as cultural organisations. He continues to generate employment opportunities fro many Nigerians by participating either solely or jointly in various ventures.
In recognition of his unflinching support and contribution to his community, in December 2000, Olorogun was conferred with Chieftaincy titles namely:
* The Ochukorrovie of Agbaraha-otor Kingdom
* The Odfomese of Olomu-Kingdom
* The Otunba Boyejo of Ijebu Land

Awards
Despite the consuming and arduous task of administering and monitoring the Group’s projects, Oskar still finds time to serve the Nation. He was a one-time member of the Board of Directors of voice of Nigeria(VON) and he is currently COMMISIONER FOR SPECIAL DUTIES, Boy Scouts Of Nigeria, Lagos State Headquarters; and recently in July 2008 Olorogun Oskar Ibru was elected PRESIDENT OF THE NIGERIAN CHAMBER OF SHIPPING. With Oskar’s inspiring success, he is undoubtedly a leading role model for today’s youth. A man of distinction, Oskar has received many awards for his meritorious services to humanity, which includes the AWARD OF EXCELLENCE in 2004 and the AFRICAN ROLE MODEL LEADERSHIP GOLD AWARD for the Best Private Jetty Operator. In the same year, he emerged as the APAPA INDUSTRIALIST OF THE YEAR. In May 2006, Otunba Ibru was again awarded the prestigious PAN AFRICAN ETHICS GOLDEN AWARD for inspirational leadership, excellent managerial skills and leadership qualities and for contributing immensely to the socio-political and economic development of Nigeria. In April 2008, he received an AWARD OF EXCELLENCE conferred on him by the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA).
