Oliver Wyman Group

The Oliver Wyman Group is a part of Marsh and McLennan consisting of Lippincott, NERA Economic Consulting and Oliver Wyman, a management consulting firm headquartered in New York City, that specializes in strategy, operations, risk management, organizational transformation, and leadership development.

History
The Oliver Wyman Group was created on May 9th, 2007 when the consulting firms Mercer Oliver Wyman, Mercer Management Consulting and Mercer Delta Consulting, joined together to become one unified consulting firm under the name Oliver Wyman. Oliver Wyman Group also includes NERA Economic Consulting and Lippincott (formally Lippincott Mercer).

The companies of the Oliver Wyman Group trace back over 35 years when in 1970 Temple, Barker and Sloane, Inc was founded in Boston. Temple Barker and Sloane were acquired by Marsh & McLennan Companies in 1990, a diversified professional services firm. In 1992, Strategic Planning Associates and Temple, Barker and Sloane are merged into the Mercer name as Mercer Management Consulting. Soon after, Mercer went on an expansion spree, rapidly expanding into Germany, the UK, France and many other countries. This was done mainly through acquisitions as Marsh & McLennan provided a vast source of funds.

In 2000, Delta Consulting Group was acquired by Marsh and McLennan and added to the Mercer Specialty Consulting Group as Mercer Delta.

In 2003, Oliver Wyman & Co, originally formed in 1984 in New York was acquired by Marsh & McLennan and renamed as Mercer Oliver Wyman as part of the Mercer Specialty Consulting Group.

In 2007, Mercer Oliver Wyman, Mercer Management Consulting and Mercer Delta are re-branded as one company known as Oliver Wyman.
