OISE - Oxford Intensive School of English

OISE (an acronym for Oxford Intensive School of English) is an international organisation of language schools teaching English, French, German and Spanish in the country where the language is spoken. OISE spans six countries with headquarters in Oxford, UK. It is one of Europe’s largest private providers of English language tutoring.
History
Oxford Intensive School of English (OISE) was founded by Till Gins in 1973 while he was studying for a PhD in Oxford, after graduating in Philosophy from the Sorbonne, University of Paris. He focused on teaching individuals rather than groups, which led him to realise the efficiency of this particular form of teaching.
Based on feedback from teaching individuals, Till continued to develop the pedagogical approach of his courses and began offering summer schools in the UK from 1976. He remains the head of OISE’s international operations today.
OISE today
More than 22,000 students from all over the world study at OISE each year. The organisation is divided between three different paths:
* Young learners between ages 7 - 17
* University students
* Business professionals
Inspired by the University of Oxford’s 800-year-old tradition of individually-monitored scholarship, the study programmes and syllabus change continually according to the students on the course and their learning requirements.

OISE is also a member of English UK, the national association of accredited English Language centres, and the world's leading language teaching association. Bristol and Oxford OISE centres are accredited by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, which inspects independent schools in the UK.
Social Responsibility
OISE has defined its corporate social responsibility policy by becoming a member of the #Smartinvestment Network, created by the Global Business Coalition for Education and chaired by Sarah Jane Brown to deliver quality education to the world’s children. It is supported by UNESCO, UNICEF, the UN Global Compact and the UN Special Envoy for Global Education.
OISE works with Toutes à l’école, an association founded in 2005 by French journalist and education advocate Tina Kieffer. The association has set up the Happy Chandara School in a rural community near Phnom Penh, in Cambodia, with the aim to provide "a high-level of education for young girls from the poorest families in order to provide them with a sense of freedom and dignity for their future”.
The school now counts more than 1,000 girls enrolled and operates from primary to college level. It also includes medical care, food and support for the girls and their families.
