Nyland (Sussex cricketer)

Nyland (first name and dates unknown) was an English first-class cricketer who played for Sussex during the 1750s and 1760s. It is possible that there is confusion about his name given its similarity to those of Richard Newland, the most famous Sussex cricketer of the time, and Newland's nephew Richard Nyren, whose career had just begun in the 1750s. Nyland could be either of these players or a different one; it depends on whether his name was written correctly in the original scorecard. Both Newland and Nyren were active in Sussex cricket in 1759. Nyland played for All-England against Dartford in the three first-class matches found in the 1759 sources. Dartford won the series 2-1.<ref name=S&B/>
